The analysts certainly do have a lot of power. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to their reports (it's not cheap!) Since I've worked for many small IT companies I know first-hand. That's one of the reasons that I started aggregating the reports that are available for free online. These are from the top-tier analysts but licensed by vendors for free distribution. As an added benefit, information technology managers and others can post their commentary on the reports to add validation or caution. You can find it here if you're interested: vantelo.com
